The film revolves around the spectacular but short career of magician and illusionist Harry Houdini, who is known as "the man of 10,000 tricks". Houdini dedicates his life to giving audiences "bigger and bigger thrills", including escaping from a locked safe, a jail's cell, a straitjacket while being hung upside down on a skyscraper flagpole.
