The film tells about the poets Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath. In 1956, Sylvia Plath meets Edward Ted Hughes. They love and marry. Sylvia quickly learns that others are also enthralled with her husband, for a combination of his good looks, charisma, fame and success.
